Paducah, KY – United Way of Western Kentucky’s "Retired United" group continues to roll up their sleeves for another day of service at Paducah Cooperative Ministry, filling 400 bags of food for their Senior Citizen food program, helping provide much-needed support to local families needing food in our community.
All area retirees are invited to join the group for this volunteer opportunity. “Retired United was created to keep retirees connected and engaged through service, learning, and fellowship,” said CJ Gurley, United Way Board President and Retired United founder. “These projects with Family Service Society and PCM are a great way to give back while connecting with others who share a heart for our community.”
Upcoming events include:
- "Pickleball for Peanut Butter" tournament, collecting peanut butter as entry fee for Family Services Society and Paducah Cooperative Ministry - Date TBD
- Bryant Red, White and Blue event - May 30
- Stuff the Bus school supplies drive - July 18
- Project United project at Paducah-McCracken County Senior Center - Sept 11

Retired United launched in September 2025 as a new initiative of United Way of Western Kentucky, providing opportunities for retirees to stay active through volunteer work, social gatherings, and community involvement. The group aims to recruit 100 active participants.
Membership is open to all retirees who want to stay connected, give back, and make Western Kentucky a stronger, more caring community.
